About Eric

Eric Cousineau currently lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico with his wife, and son. He received his B.F.A. in photography from the Collage of Santa Fe.

Heidi + Jeffrey | Woodstock, NY

Jeff Abell quickly became one of my best friends when I first moved to Santa Fe in 2001 to finish my BFA in photography. After graduating Jeff moved to Brooklyn where he soon meet Heidi. Every time I talked to Jeff over the phone he would tell me how amazing Heidi was, and that I should come out to meet her. The few times I made it out to New York she was always out of town.

When they called me to say they were getting married, and they wanted me to be their photographer I was extremely happy and honored. They decided to have their wedding in the backyard Heidi’s childhood home in Woodstock, NY. The wedding was 60′s themed, and everyone dressed to the nines.

kitty - GREAT JOB! I love this wedding. It's obvious you had a great time with them... comes through in the images.

Jill + Sean | Engagement Session, Santa Fe, NM

Jill and Sean’s engagement session went a little differently then all the engagement sessions I have done in the past. I jokingly said to them that they should go pose in a dumpster that we were walking by, and before I knew it Jill was standing inside it. Sean was a little hesitant at first, but soon jumped in. We drove all over town finding spots with great lighting well into the night. I cannot wait for their wedding which will be next year at Encantado Resort in Santa Fe.

This is also the first session my new assistant, and local photographer Brandon Soder joined me. He has great lighting techniques, and I look forward to working with him at all weddings and photo sessions. You can check out his work here.

Michelle + Zac | Albuquerque, NM

I photographed Michelle and Zac’s engagement session in New York City a few months ago. They decided to have a small backyard wedding at her parents house in Albuquerque with a group of their closest friends and relatives. About an hour before the ceremony it started to rain, but as it always seems to happen in New Mexico, it stopped right before the ceremony. It didn’t rain for rest of the evening, and the clouds made the sun set even more beautiful for the group to enjoy.

Julia + Cameron | Engagement Session, Santa Fe, NM

Last year my good friends Julia and Cameron asked me to photograph their engagement session. When we started talking about how they wanted their engagement session to go, they had decided they wanted something simple, and what they love to do as a couple. Julia and Cameron are nerds, and love to play video games together so after hitting a few spots downtown we ending up at their house to play games on the Nintendo Wii.

While I did offer to photograph their wedding. They refused to let me do so, because they want me to just be a guest and enjoy myself. So I took it upon myself to help them find their photographer. After reviewing the mile long list I gave them they decided to hire Sergio Photographer. Needless to say he did an amazing job, and they will be happy with the photos for a life time. You can even see me in a few of the images. Click here to view the wedding.

Jill + Charlie | La Posada Wedding

Jill and Charlies wedding was at La Posada on a beautiful Friday evening. The ceremony was a combination of  a Sri Lankan Poruwa ceremony, and a traditional Christian ceremony. Jill wanted vanda orchids for her bouquet which are very difficult to come by, but Marisa (her florist) through her tireless effort for her clients was able to find them. Friends and family from Sri Lanka, as well as England flew out to witness their special occasion.

Natalie + Luke | Bishops Lodge, Santa Fe, NM

I met with Natalie, and two of her bridesmaids in late fall of 2009 at the Cowgirl for a few drinks to discuss the details of her wedding that was going to be held at Bishops Lodge. We also discussed having me photograph their engagement party in Juarez, Mexico at her godparents compound a few days before Christmas. It sounded really exciting (they have private bull ring in their backyard), but due a number of guest already committed to their own family plans the engagement party was canceled.

Their wedding day went off with out a hitch, and ceremony was conducted by the very talented Irene Swain whom I have had the privilege of working with many times. The awesome flowers were once again provided by  Marsia’s Flowers.

Natalie and Luke are both graduates of St. John’s college here in Santa Fe, and of course a majority of their guest are fellow graduates. I graduated from the College of Santa Fe, and all I knew about St. John’s was it is a college that teaches philosophy. What I learn from this group of people is St. John’s also requires all its students to take swing dancing classes. So they hire Le Chat Lunatique to provide the music for them to swing the night away.

kitty - NICE!!

Emily + Bill | La Posada, Santa Fe, NM

Emily and Bill were married at La Posada near downtown Santa Fe. Steven St. John, my new friend and fellow photographer from Albuquerque joined me as a second photographer on this wedding. Pastor Greg Kennedy delivered a beautiful ceremony, and the up would have been complete without the lovely flower arrangement provided my Marisa’s Flowers. It didn’t take people to long to hit the dance floor after dinner, with great music of Tapestry.

Claire + Todd | Santa Fe, NM wedding

Claire and Todd had a beautiful backyard wedding at Claire’s mothers house in the historic Canyon road area of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Cheers to the beautiful couple.

Michelle + Zac | New York City Engagement Session

Michelle and Zac decided to have me  photograph their engagement session in NYC. We enlisted the help of my good friend, and filmmaker Shane Duckworth to drive us around the city to different locations, who’s driving skills and knowledge of the city exceeds that of most cabbies. Each time we arrived at a new location he found us a parking spot with in minutes.

The day started off at the park near their apartment on the Hudson River where their dog Lily joined us for a few photos. Then it was off to China town for a few hours. After that we went to the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, took a break for burgers at The Burger Joint, then a quick stop at The Highland Parks, before we dropped them off and said good bye in their apartment lobby.

Kent Meireis - Great job Eric! Love the image under the bridge in Central Park, I think.

Leslie + Matt | Santa Fe Engagement

Leslie and Matt will be tying the knot later this year in Rio Rancho. We had a fun photo session near downtown Santa Fe.lm4e-1020lm4e-1047lm4e-1061lm4e-1069lm4e-1100lm4e-1105lm4e-1142lm4e-1146lm4e-1157
